Horseback Riding

Fact File

Where and when: The most adventurous horseback riding takes place in the mountains, although you can also ride on the beach and in open fields. There are approximately 40 ranches in the Dominican Republic, concentrated in the mountains and close to major tourist centers. They are open all year round.

Equipment: While saddles, harnesses, reigns and other equipment necessary for horseback riding is provided, few, if any, ranches have riding helmets, boots, jodhpurs and other such accessories. Therefore, come prepared if you are a serious rider; otherwise, remember that long pants are better than shorts.

Go to Rancho Marabel for Adventure horseback riding.
